Ever heard of freelance writing?? Yes, it's simply "get hired, write, then get paid".
Welcome to the world of freelancing, where many freelance writers have made fortunes by just writing, all done through the internet. The advent of the web has created wonderful cash-making opportunities for the online community. Companies has since the rapid expansion of the internet started looking for people to do writing jobs for them. There are a lot of freelancing websites outside there, which I will list out later in this post.
Freelance jobs websites are agents that partner with freelance writers, and help companies that require the freelancers' service to connect with them. A wide spectrum of online writing job opportunities are available on these websites, from writing blog posts to writing articles.
As a general guide, freelancing websites usually allow you to choose your own specialized areas, after which you will receive notifications (usually through email) whenever any employer posts a new job that is related to your areas. (Choosing your areas is usually done upon registration). So how do you charge for your service? You can set your own rate, by hour, or by project. Some projects value up to hundreds of dollars, depending of their type. When there is a job that relates to your fields, you would then have to bid for it, setting your own rate. You might need to provide a CV, or your sample writing work, which is up to the employer. Registering as a freelancer with these websites is normally free of charge (although some charge a minimal fee), but you will be charged for a percentage of your earnings by the freelancing websites. Well, they need to make money as well, don't they? Charging rate is however up to the freelancing website concerned. When you register, you will be told of the charging rate for the money you earn through them.
To be frank, being a newbie ain't easy. You will need to pour time and efforts into it. You will find yourself competing against other freelancers, some even have made their fame in the field. But being a newbie, you too possess advantage, advantage that those popular freelancers do not have. You are competitive in terms of price, as any rational beginner would start out charging rates at competitive prices. Those famous freelancers started out as beginner anyway. They could do it, why can't you? Some employers might want you to submit a work on any topic to assess your ability. If the employer is satisfied with your sample work, you get the job! There are websites that allow you to upgrade your account for more features for a fee.
There are many freelance writing websites out there, here's a list that I find useful:
elance.com
academia-research.com
Guru.com

Hope this help you to know freelance writing and the opportunities that it offers.
